Aircraft flight recorders and related recording equipment are grouped for identification by exact unit designation and system role. The catalogue covers onboard data, voice and audio recording positions, acquisition or processing units and other separately numbered devices. These functions may belong to one recording system, but every unit must still be matched as its own component.

Data, voice and processing units are distinct positions

Examples include BUR-family onboard recorders, the MARS-BM emergency voice and audio recording system, BSPI-4-2 acquisition or processing units and Almaz-UP-48 voice-message equipment. Their presence in one catalogue section reflects a recording or playback context; it does not make the devices interchangeable or confirm that they form one delivery set.

Recorder selection depends on the complete system record

Correct identification can require a series number, hardware execution, connector arrangement, recording medium, interface, installed system and aircraft documentation. Retain all suffixes and compare the unit label with the approved equipment list. When a removed component is available, photographs of its front, rear and identification plate provide useful verification evidence.
