Description

MS-61B “Lira” onboard wire tape recorder

MS-61B “Lira” is an aircraft wire tape recorder designed for recording speech information from radio receivers and aircraft intercom systems, as well as for autonomous recording from crew microphones on board an aircraft. The recorder is used in onboard voice recording systems and provides continuous recording of speech signals and time information during flight. It is intended for installation as part of aircraft communication and recording equipment.

Speech and audio recording through MS-61B “Lira”

The MS-61B “Lira” records audio information received from onboard radio communication channels, aircraft intercom systems and crew microphone circuits. The system is used to preserve cockpit voice information, radio communication and related audio signals for later playback and analysis. Recording is performed automatically during operation of the system, while crew interaction with the recorder is carried out through the PU MS-61B “Lira” control panel.

Magnetic wire recording principle of MS-61B

The MS-61B recorder operates on the principle of magnetic recording with high-frequency bias on a steel wire recording medium. Previous recordings are erased automatically by a high-frequency magnetic field before new information is recorded. The system uses steel wire type 5.4 according to applicable documentation and records speech-band audio signals on a continuous wire medium. Playback of recorded information is performed using a ground-based wire tape recorder and is not available directly on board the aircraft.

MS-61B “Lira” system composition

The MS-61B “Lira” system includes the recording unit installed in a crash-protected armored enclosure, the PU MS-61B “Lira” control panel and connecting cables. The recording unit performs magnetic wire recording, while the control panel provides remote control and status indication from the cockpit. The complete installation may also include related aircraft wiring, mounting elements and documentation according to the aircraft configuration and supply specification.

Difference between MS-61B and base MS-61

The MS-61B differs from the base MS-61 version by the design of the recording unit and power supply circuitry. This version is intended for installation in a crash-protected armored enclosure, which provides additional protection for the recorder equipment. Exact configuration and applicability should be confirmed through the product passport and aircraft documentation, since recorder installations may differ by aircraft type, modification and modernization status.

Identification and ordering of MS-61B “Lira”

The product may be referenced as MS-61B, MS-61B Lira, МС-61Б or МС-61Б «Лира». These designations refer to the same aircraft wire tape recorder type. For correct supply, it is useful to specify whether the request concerns the complete MS-61B recorder system or separate components, such as the recording unit in armored enclosure, PU MS-61B “Lira” control panel, connecting cables or documentation.
