Description
P-507M solid-state voice information recorder
P-507M is an onboard solid-state recorder intended to capture and retain crew communications, cockpit sound and service time information. It provides continuous non-volatile recording for post-event analysis, safety investigation and operational review. The solid-state memory replaces the magnetic wire or tape media used by older voice recorders and removes the mechanical transport mechanism from the recording path.

Recording channels and stored information
The P-507M provides four recording channels: three voice channels and one service or time-reference channel. The stored interval is at least eight hours, allowing a substantially longer record than older short-cycle cockpit voice systems. The recorder collects signals from the aircraft communication and audio environment, while the service channel preserves the timing reference required to correlate voice events with other flight information.
Power supply, readiness and protected memory
The unit operates from an 18 to 31 V DC supply. Its normal power consumption and the higher demand of the heating mode are specified separately because low-temperature preparation affects time to readiness. The recorder is designed for operation down to severe negative temperatures and uses non-volatile flash memory. The protected design is associated with ED-56A and TSO-C123A requirements, and provision can be made for a PAM-6k underwater locator beacon.
Application on aircraft and other transport
The existing technical documentation identifies use on Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-172 helicopters and also describes broader application on fixed-wing aircraft, marine vessels, locomotives and other transport platforms. This broad functional scope does not make every installation identical. The connector arrangement, input levels, mounting, heating circuit, locator-beacon provision and aircraft approval must be checked against the passport and documentation for the intended vehicle.
