Aircraft mounting frames and frame-mounted avionics units are used for secure installation of onboard electronic equipment in helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. These parts provide mechanical fixation, correct alignment, vibration resistance and repeatable positioning of avionics blocks during maintenance, replacement or overhaul work.
They may be used on Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171, Mi-24, Mi-26, Ka-27, Ka-32 helicopters, as well as An-2, An-24, An-26, An-30, An-32, An-72, An-74, IL-76, L-410 and other Soviet or Russian-designed aircraft. In aircraft systems, a mounting frame is often more than a simple support bracket. It may define the exact installation geometry, connector alignment, grounding arrangement, cooling clearance and access for removal of the installed unit. This is especially important for older aircraft, where avionics blocks, control units and signal-processing modules are frequently installed as removable units in dedicated frames, racks or cassette-type holders.
