BUR-SL-1 Series 7 onboard solid-state recorder
BUR-SL-1 Series 7 is an onboard recording unit intended to collect, process and preserve operational and flight information. It supports accident and incident investigation as well as routine monitoring of aircraft operation. The solid-state design eliminates magnetic recording media and allows the unit to record multiple signal types in a programmed configuration. The exact Series 7 execution must be confirmed because other BUR-SL-1 series can differ in interfaces, channel capacity and system integration.

Signals and recording capacity
The recorder accepts analog signals, programmable discrete commands and navigation code signals through an RS-232 interface. It also records service information such as current time, power-on number and aircraft identification number. Recording duration depends on the selected word rate: the stored interval changes as the number of words recorded per second increases. Channel assignment, polling frequencies and the data frame are therefore part of the aircraft-specific configuration and must match the installed system documentation.
Readout and processing of BUR-SL-1 data
Recorded information can be transferred through RS-232 to an IBM-compatible computer or notebook and processed with the Dozor or Topaz-M ground systems identified for this equipment. This allows post-flight review without opening the protected memory section. When acquiring a unit, compatibility must be checked not only by connector appearance but also by software configuration, supported signal formats and the available ground readout equipment.
