- Description
Carbon brushes are sliding electrical contact components used to transfer current between stationary and rotating parts of electrical machines. In aviation and technical equipment, they are commonly installed in electric motors, generators, alternators, starter-generators, slip-ring assemblies and other rotating electrical units where stable current transmission is required during continuous operation.
Depending on the application, carbon brushes may be used in aircraft electrical systems, starter-generator units, industrial motors, railway traction equipment, power converters, wind-power generators and AC/DC machines. Their performance depends on the brush material, contact surface, spring pressure, current load, rotation speed and compatibility with the commutator or slip ring. In aviation units, correct brush selection is especially important, as visually similar brushes can differ by grade, dimensions, terminal type and operating characteristics.
This category includes carbon brushes, graphite brushes and metal-graphite brushes for electrical machines used in aviation, industrial, energy and transport applications. Some brush types may include copper-graphite composition, flexible leads, terminals or specific contact geometry depending on the equipment model and manufacturer’s documentation.
Carbon brushes are normally replaced during scheduled maintenance, inspection of electrical units, generator servicing, starter-generator repair or refurbishment of rotating electrical equipment. Wear condition, contact quality, surface damage and electrical performance are key factors during replacement.
Aviamisto supplies carbon brushes and related electrical components in new condition for MRO companies, repair facilities, fleet operators, industrial service companies and technical trading organizations. Selection is usually made by part number, brush dimensions, material grade, equipment type, terminal configuration and technical documentation. Certificates, origin documents or available supporting paperwork may be provided for selected items upon request.
