MS-61 aircraft wire tape recorder

MS-61 is an aircraft wire tape recorder designed for recording speech signals from onboard radio receivers and aircraft intercom systems, as well as for autonomous recording from laryngophones and crew headsets on aircraft. The recorder operates as part of onboard voice recording systems and is used to capture crew speech, radio communication and time-related information during flight.

Speech recording through MS-61

The MS-61 records audio signals received from aircraft radio receivers, aircraft intercom circuits and crew microphone sources. It can record speech information from laryngophones and headsets, allowing the system to capture cockpit voice communication and radio exchange during operation. The recorded information may be used for subsequent playback, technical review, maintenance analysis or investigation, depending on aircraft procedures and recorder configuration.

Magnetic wire recording principle of MS-61

The MS-61 performs magnetic recording on a steel wire recording medium. Recording is carried out with high-frequency bias, while previous recordings are automatically erased by a high-frequency magnetic field in the erase head gap. The recorder uses a thin wire medium and provides continuous recording for not less than 5.5 hours. This wire recording principle is typical for earlier aircraft voice recorders before the transition to tape and solid-state recording systems.

MS-61 system composition

The MS-61 system consists of a recording unit, control panel and connecting cables. The recording unit performs the magnetic wire recording process, while the control panel provides operational control of the recorder. The cable set connects the recording unit with the control panel and aircraft communication circuits. The system is intended for integration with aircraft radio receivers and SPU / intercom equipment according to aircraft documentation.

Automatic start and stop function of MS-61

The MS-61 supports automatic start and stop depending on input signal levels. The recorder can begin operation when a signal from a laryngophone or aircraft intercom circuit reaches the required threshold. After the input signal ends, the automatic stop delay allows recording to continue for a defined period before stopping. These functions help the system record useful speech information while reducing unnecessary operation during silence or inactive communication periods.

Returns & Changes (Restocking Fee)
