The MS-61 is an aircraft wire tape recorder designed for recording speech signals from onboard radio receivers and aircraft intercom systems, as well as for autonomous recording from laryngophones and crew headsets on aircraft.
The recorder performs magnetic recording on a wire recording medium using high-frequency bias, with automatic erasure of previous recordings by a high-frequency magnetic field in the erase head gap.
The MS-61 operates as part of onboard voice recording systems and consists of a recording unit and a control panel connected by cables, providing continuous recording and automatic start and stop based on input signal levels.
The product is also known under alternative designations MS-61, МС-61, MS-61B, МС-61Б, which refer to the same product type.
