Description
The RA-5 shock-mount frame is a vibration-damping mounting assembly designed for installation of the RV-5M radio altimeter transceiver unit onboard helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
The frame provides mechanical support, secure attachment to the aircraft structure, and vibration isolation, ensuring stable operation of the radio altimeter under normal and intensive flight conditions.
The RA-5 was installed as part of the RV-5M radio altimeter set, which preceded later A-037 variants.
As delivered from the factory, the frame was supplied together with two system cables:
• GU4.850.668-29 — main interface cable
• GU4.850-759 — power/connection cable
The RA-5 mounting frame was standardized across early installations of Mi-8, Mi-2, Mi-14, Mi-24 and other Soviet/Russian aircraft equipped with RV-5M systems.
The assembly ensures proper vibration damping and minimizes the effect of airframe resonance, improving service life and measurement accuracy of the installed equipment.
