Description

Altitude Indicator A-034-4-17 is a pointer-type indicator used as part of the A-037 radio altimeter system. The instrument is designed to display the true height of an aircraft above the ground surface at low altitudes and provides clear visual altitude indication within the range from 0 to 300 meters.

The scale is graduated with variable resolution to ensure increased accuracy at low heights: from 0 to 20 m with 1 m scale division, from 20 to 50 m with 2 m division, and from 50 to 300 m with 10 m division. A dedicated control sector from 13.3 to 16.5 m is marked on the scale. When the TEST button is pressed, the pointer is set to the control value of 15 ±1.5 m, allowing functional verification of the system.

The indicator operates together with the A-037 radio altimeter, which includes a transmitter-receiver unit, receiving and transmitting antennas, power control elements, and protection devices. The system is intended for low-altitude flight operations and forms part of the aircraft flight and navigation equipment.

The radio altimeter operates within the frequency range of 4200–4400 MHz and provides continuous operation within specified limits. Power is supplied from DC and AC onboard networks. The system ensures reliable altitude measurement within its operational envelope and is intended for use under standard aircraft operating conditions. Aviamisto
