Description

The A-037 Version 4 is a complete airborne radio altimeter system designed to measure the true flight altitude of a helicopter above any surface — land, water, or uneven terrain.

Variant 4 configuration includes:
A-037-1G transceiver — RF generation, transmission and reception;
A-034-4-17 indicator — analog pointer display and height warning outputs;
Two A-037-2 antennas — transmitting and receiving;
GU4.137.080-01 mounting/harness set;
GU4.850.668-03 interconnecting cable.

The A-037 system provides the crew and onboard avionics with:
• continuous indication of current altitude on the pointer scale;
• visual and aural low-altitude warning when descending below the preset height on the indicator;
• failure warning — a red flag on the indicator when the system malfunctions or loses radar return from the surface.

The system operates using continuous-wave radar with frequency modulation.
Altitude is calculated from the time delay of the reflected signal, allowing real-time measurement across the operating range.

Alternate / Alternative names:
A-037 Variant 4, A037-V4, A-037-4, A-037-1G + A-034-4-17 kit

Operational use is permitted only under aircraft technical documentation.
Accuracy, reliability, and electrical requirements match manufacturer passport data.
