UV-30-3 operating purpose

UV-30-3 is a barometric altitude indicator. Displays relative and absolute barometric altitude information received from the air-data computing channel. It operates inside an aircraft measuring or navigation channel and must be evaluated together with the sensors, computers, power supply and wiring of the exact installation.

The associated BVP computing unit processes static-pressure data and supplies the indicator through potentiometric and synchro-type channels. Serviceability of the pointer alone therefore does not validate the complete system. A functional check must also cover input signals, interconnecting lines, associated units and the specified test procedure.

UV-30-3 in the associated system

Associated system: SSV11-72-3 air-data system. Nearest connected equipment: BVP-7 / BVP-9 computing unit, UMS-2.5 speed/Mach indicator and P-69-2M control unit, depending on system execution. These items form a functional chain but are not automatically included in the delivery set of one indicator.

Used only as part of the matched air-data system; aircraft applicability must be confirmed from the SSV installation documentation. Applicability to another aircraft modification must not be inferred from appearance and requires confirmation in the parts catalogue, wiring diagram or maintenance manual.

Indication, power and cockpit installation

Indication range or presentation: Relative altitude is computed as the difference between absolute barometric altitude and the selected reference altitude. Power and input channel: From the applicable SSV electrical and synchro circuits.

Installation: Cockpit instrument panel. Before fitting, verify the complete designation, series, scale, connector or pressure ports, mounting, housing, glass and nameplate condition. The installed unit is then checked under the procedure for the applicable system and aircraft.

Identification of UV-30-3

The original Soviet/Russian factory designation is Cyrillic: УВ-30-3. The English card uses the consistent Latin transliteration UV-30-3. Similar-looking Cyrillic and Latin characters are not mixed inside the primary designation.

The indicator must be matched to the computing unit, reference-altitude input and wiring of the exact SSV execution. A visually similar instrument, adjacent series or comparable scale does not prove interchangeability. Selection requires a nameplate photograph, exact index, aircraft type, associated system and documentation requirement.
