USM-2
speed and Mach gauge
Description
USM-2 operating purpose
USM-2 is a combined airspeed and mach-number indicator. Displays indicated airspeed and Mach number from the aircraft air-data or pressure-measuring system. It operates inside an aircraft measuring or navigation channel and must be evaluated together with the sensors, computers, power supply and wiring of the exact installation.
Total and static pressure information is converted into coordinated indications for speed and compressibility ratio. Serviceability of the pointer alone therefore does not validate the complete system. A functional check must also cover input signals, interconnecting lines, associated units and the specified test procedure.

USM-2 in the associated system
Associated system: Airspeed and Mach indication channel; system execution depends on the aircraft installation. Nearest connected equipment: Pitot-static sources, air-data processing equipment, speed-limit warning system and cockpit indication. These items form a functional chain but are not automatically included in the delivery set of one indicator.
Flight documentation records USM-2 in speed/Mach indication and limiting circuits of Su-27 family installations. Applicability to another aircraft modification must not be inferred from appearance and requires confirmation in the parts catalogue, wiring diagram or maintenance manual.
Indication, power and cockpit installation
Indication range or presentation: Exact airspeed and Mach scales require confirmation from the USM-2 dial and passport. Power and input channel: According to the matched pressure or air-data system and illumination execution.
Installation: Cockpit instrument panel. Before fitting, verify the complete designation, series, scale, connector or pressure ports, mounting, housing, glass and nameplate condition. The installed unit is then checked under the procedure for the applicable system and aircraft.
Identification of USM-2
The original Soviet/Russian factory designation is Cyrillic: УСМ-2. The English card uses the consistent Latin transliteration USM-2. Similar-looking Cyrillic and Latin characters are not mixed inside the primary designation.
Do not confuse USM-2 with UMS-2.5-2I: they are separately designated instruments for different systems. A visually similar instrument, adjacent series or comparable scale does not prove interchangeability. Selection requires a nameplate photograph, exact index, aircraft type, associated system and documentation requirement.
Ordering and related indicators
An inquiry for USM-2 should state required condition, delivery set, passport and bench-test needs. Card defaults are Condition: New, Warranty: 6 Months and Stock Status: Pre-Order; actual lead time and documentation are confirmed in the quotation.
More instruments are available in the Aviamisto Altimeters and Indicators category. Related positions: US-1600-1, US-250, UMS-2.5-2I, UVK-1F-PB Series 2. They belong to nearby functional channels or the same equipment group and are not confirmed replacements without direct technical documentation.
