AGD-1S operating purpose
AGD-1S is a attitude indicator / artificial horizon. Shows aircraft attitude relative to the true horizon, including roll and pitch information. It operates inside an aircraft measuring or navigation channel and must be evaluated together with the sensors, computers, power supply and wiring of the exact installation.
A gyroscopic attitude reference drives the moving horizon presentation while the aircraft symbol remains the crew reference. Serviceability of the pointer alone therefore does not validate the complete system. A functional check must also cover input signals, interconnecting lines, associated units and the specified test procedure.

AGD-1S in the associated system
Associated system: Independent flight-instrument attitude channel supplied from the aircraft electrical system. Nearest connected equipment: Aircraft electrical supply, gyroscopic mechanism and cockpit indication channel. These items form a functional chain but are not automatically included in the delivery set of one indicator.
Maintenance documentation confirms AGD-1S installations for captain and copilot positions on An-24 / An-26 family aircraft. Applicability to another aircraft modification must not be inferred from appearance and requires confirmation in the parts catalogue, wiring diagram or maintenance manual.
Indication, power and cockpit installation
Indication range or presentation: Continuous 360° roll indication; pitch presentation according to the instrument scale and operating documentation. Power and input channel: 36 V, 400 Hz AC gyromotor supply with the applicable aircraft control circuits.
Installation: Cockpit instrument panel. Before fitting, verify the complete designation, series, scale, connector or pressure ports, mounting, housing, glass and nameplate condition. The installed unit is then checked under the procedure for the applicable system and aircraft.
Identification of AGD-1S
The original Soviet/Russian factory designation is Cyrillic: АГД-1С. The English card uses the consistent Latin transliteration AGD-1S. Similar-looking Cyrillic and Latin characters are not mixed inside the primary designation.
Exact connector, series and aircraft installation must be checked from the nameplate and maintenance documentation. A visually similar instrument, adjacent series or comparable scale does not prove interchangeability. Selection requires a nameplate photograph, exact index, aircraft type, associated system and documentation requirement.
