Signal selection function of SB2-B1-YARII

The main function of SB2-B1-YARII is to provide principal selectivity of the received signal. After preliminary conversion and selection in the receiver-exciter path, the signal enters this module for more precise filtering. The subunit separates the required signal from nearby-channel interference and prepares it for further processing. Correct operation of the selector is important for receiver sensitivity, intelligibility, adjacent-channel rejection and stable HF communication. If the module is defective, the radio station may show poor reception, distorted audio or reduced ability to separate useful signals from interference.

SB2-B1-YARII as an IF amplifier

In addition to signal selection, SB2-B1-YARII operates as an intermediate-frequency amplifier. After the signal passes through the main selection filters, the IF amplifier stages raise the signal level to the value required for correct detector operation. The module may use quartz or electromechanical filter elements depending on the execution and documentation of the receiver-exciter. This filtering and amplification stage forms an important part of the receive path between preliminary RF processing and final signal detection.

SB2-B1-YARII in the B1-YARII receiver-exciter

The SB2-B1-YARII subunit is installed in the B1-YARII receiver-exciter, which belongs to the Yadro-1 airborne shortwave radio station. Functionally, it is located between the preliminary processing stage and the final detection / audio-frequency stages. A signal from the SB5-B1 main block enters SB2-B1 after preliminary selection and conversion. Inside SB2-B1, the signal passes through the main selection filters and IF amplifier stages. The filtered and amplified signal is then sent to SB4-B1 for detection and low-frequency amplification.

Yadro-1 radio station application

SB2-B1-YARII is used in the Yadro-1 HF radio communication system installed on aircraft and helicopters equipped with compatible shortwave radio equipment. Application may include Mi-8 and Mi-17 family helicopters and other civil or military aircraft fitted with Yadro-1 radio stations, depending on aircraft configuration and documentation. Since HF radio installations may differ by aircraft type, radio station version and modernization status, applicability should be confirmed through the equipment list, receiver-exciter documentation and maintenance records.
