Radio Altimeter Set
Available on back-order
The A-037 Variant 11 is a complete onboard radio altimeter set designed to measure true helicopter flight altitude above land, water or rugged terrain. The system gives the crew continuous radio-height information and supports low-altitude warning functions during approach, landing, descent, hover and other flight modes where actual clearance below the aircraft matters. Unlike barometric altitude, the A-037 measures height relative to the surface directly below the helicopter.
The Variant 11 configuration includes the A-037-1A transceiver, A-034-4-13 height indicator, two AR5-1 antennas and the GU4.137.080-01 mounting / wiring set with equipment frame. The A-037-1A transceiver generates, transmits, receives and processes the radio signal. The A-034-4-13 indicator provides cockpit pointer indication and warning output. The AR5-1 antennas work as the transmitting and receiving antenna elements of the radio altimeter system.
The A-037 Variant 11 operates as a continuous-wave radar with frequency modulation. The transceiver emits a modulated radio signal toward the surface below the aircraft and receives the reflected return. The system processes the received signal and calculates true height in real time. This method gives the aircraft actual clearance over the surface underneath it, whether the helicopter is flying above land, water or uneven terrain. The operating frequency range of the system is 4.2–4.4 GHz.
In the Variant 11 set, cockpit altitude indication is provided by the A-034-4-13 pointer indicator. The system supports display ranges of 0–300 m and 0–750 m, depending on the indicator and configuration data. The indicator gives the crew a direct analog view of current radio height and also participates in low-altitude warning. When the helicopter descends below the preset threshold, the system provides visual and aural warning so the crew can react without continuously comparing the pointer with the selected limit.
The A-037 Variant 11 provides visual and audio low-altitude warning when the helicopter descends below the preset height. It also provides fault indication through a red flag on the indicator scale. The flag appears when the system fails, when radar contact with the surface is lost, or when the aircraft operates outside the valid display range. For the crew, this means the radio-altitude indication should not be trusted until the system is checked according to approved aircraft documentation.
Operation of the A-037 Variant 11 is permitted only under approved aircraft documentation and technical requirements. Since the system includes a transceiver, indicator, antennas, mounting frames and wiring, installation and troubleshooting must be treated as a complete set. A fault may be caused by the A-037-1A transceiver, A-034-4-13 indicator, antennas, wiring, connectors, power supply, mounting condition or warning circuits. Service life, accuracy and reliability should be confirmed by the manufacturer’s passport and operating manual.
For procurement, the system should be identified as A-037 Variant 11 or A-037 Version 11. Alternative references such as A037-V11, A-037-11 kit or A-037-1A set can help clarify the request, but the included units should always be listed. Before supply, it is important to check completeness, condition of each unit, antenna availability, wiring set, connector integrity, documentation and compatibility with the aircraft configuration.
