Vibration monitoring
Available on back-order
The IV-500E Series 2 is an aircraft vibration monitoring system used for continuous control of engine vibration velocity. It is installed as part of onboard safety and monitoring instrumentation on twin-engine aircraft and helicopters. The system tracks vibration in the engine installation area and warns the crew when vibration reaches preset limits. It is not a balancing device and does not correct vibration by itself. Its role is detection, cockpit warning and signal output to related aircraft circuits.
During operation, the IV-500E Series 2 receives signals from piezoelectric vibration sensors mounted on the engines. These sensors convert mechanical vibration into electrical signals. The signals then pass through matching units and go to the electronic processing block, where they are compared with warning thresholds. The system uses two levels of warning: a yellow caution level for early crew awareness and a red shutdown warning level for a dangerous vibration condition. This helps the crew react before vibration becomes a serious engine safety issue.
The IV-500E Series 2 set includes two MV-03-1 piezoelectric vibration sensors, two USS-6 Series 2 matching units, the BE-9E Series 2 electronic unit, a mounting base, cockpit annunciator lights and a test pushbutton. The sensors are installed on the engines. The matching units and electronic block are placed according to the aircraft layout, often in the cargo cabin or equipment area, while the warning lights and test control are located in the cockpit. These blocks work together as one vibration detection loop.
The IV-500E Series 2 is intended for twin-engine aircraft and helicopters where engine vibration must be monitored during operation. It is associated with Mi-series helicopters and Antonov aircraft platforms equipped with suitable engine monitoring and cockpit annunciation systems. The measured frequency band is selected for vibration patterns typical of mechanical imbalance, bearing wear, rotor defects or early compressor instability. The exact installation depends on the aircraft type, engine installation and wiring diagram.
Before ordering IV-500E Series 2 equipment, it is important to confirm whether a complete set is required or only one of its blocks, such as an MV-03-1 sensor, USS-6 matching unit or BE-9E electronic unit. The set should be matched with the aircraft wiring and installation scheme. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, installed system marking, required component list and available photos of nameplates. The product is also known under alternative designations IV-500E, IV500E, IV-500E-2, ИВ-500Е and ИВ500Е.
