The MV-03-1 is an aircraft piezoelectric vibration sensor used in engine vibration monitoring systems. It is installed directly on the engine body and converts mechanical vibration into an electrical signal. The sensor is not a warning unit by itself. It works as the primary measuring element of the IV-500E system, where the signal is passed further through matching and processing blocks before cockpit indication is triggered.
During engine operation, the MV-03-1 detects vibration within the monitored frequency range and produces an output signal proportional to the vibration level. This signal is then sent to the USS-6 matching unit, where it is conditioned for further processing. From there, the signal goes to the BE-9E electronic unit, which compares vibration level with preset thresholds and controls the cockpit warning lights. The full path is MV-03-1 → USS-6 → BE-9E.
The sensor is part of the IV-500E vibration monitoring equipment used on helicopters with TV3-117 engines, including Mi-8, Mi-17 and Mi-171 family aircraft. In a complete system, MV-03-1 sensors work together with USS-6 matching devices, the BE-9E electronic block, cockpit annunciators and test circuits. The sensor is mounted in the engine area, while the processing equipment is installed inside the aircraft according to the factory wiring and installation scheme.
The MV-03-1 is built for continuous onboard operation in a vibration-heavy engine environment. It has a sealed housing and is supplied with a standard factory cable. Shielding is important because the sensor signal must remain stable while passing from the engine area to the aircraft equipment bay. During maintenance, the mounting point, cable condition, connector, shielding and mechanical fastening should be checked together. A damaged cable or poor mounting can affect the signal even if the sensor element remains serviceable.
Before ordering MV-03-1, the marking should be checked against the IV-500E system documentation, aircraft wiring scheme and engine installation data. It is also useful to confirm whether one sensor is required or a pair for the full aircraft system. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, engine type, installed vibration monitoring set and a photo of the sensor label if available. The product is also known under alternative designations MV-03-1, MV03-1, МВ-03-1 and МВ03-1.
