8MT-9925-00 tail gearbox lifting sling

The 8MT-9925-00 is a dedicated sling for lifting and handling the helicopter tail gearbox during removal, installation or maintenance. It belongs to the Mi-8 / Mi-17 / Mi-171 ground-maintenance equipment family where the relevant documentation specifies this designation. The product must not be confused with a general cargo sling or with similarly numbered towing equipment.

Tail gearbox handling procedure

Before hoisting, the sling is secured to the documented points on the tail gearbox and checked for correct engagement. The hoist must remain vertical and controlled so that no side load, twisting or impact is transferred to the gearbox. The sling supports the specific component-handling operation; it does not establish the gearbox mass or approve an alternative lifting arrangement.

The working area should be prepared before the gearbox is released. Personnel must confirm the hoist capacity, attachment condition, balance and clearance from the airframe. Technical catalogs and maintenance documentation show that they are separate products: 8MT-9925-00 is the tail gearbox lifting sling, while 8AT-9800-00 is a helicopter tow bar. The former combined alternative designation has therefore been removed from this card.

Before use, inspect the shaped frame, welds, wire rope, sleeves, pin, latch and identification plate. Broken strands, kinks, deformation, corrosion, loose fittings or missing locks require withdrawal from service until the sling is assessed under the approved inspection procedure. The 210 kg marking does not override inspection or certification requirements.
