56-9918-00 blade trimmer bending tool

The 56-9918-00 is the dedicated fixture used to bend main rotor blade trim tabs while adjusting blade coning. The Mi-8AMT maintenance manual describes it in section 012.10.00 and illustrates the tool in Figure 60. A specialist product catalog also records the newer reference NVKV.303674.001 for the same tool type.

The fixture has only two principal elements: a bracket and a handle. The bracket is made from 30KhGSA steel, is 400 mm long and contains a deep groove lined with protective fabric. The handle is manufactured from 20 × 18 mm steel tube and is attached to the bracket. This simple construction is application-specific and should not be replaced by an improvised lever.

Use during main rotor adjustment

For use, the tool is placed over the trim tab until it reaches the stop. The technician then applies a smooth force to the handle to bend the tab in the required direction. The manual links this operation to main rotor blade coning adjustment, so the amount and direction of correction must come from the approved rotor tracking procedure rather than from the tool itself.

The tool does not measure blade track and does not establish the required correction. It provides controlled mechanical leverage after the maintenance result has been evaluated with the appropriate tracking equipment. Excessive or abrupt loading can damage the trim tab or blade structure, which is why the procedure specifically calls for smooth force.

The primary manual gives a mass of 0.7 kg. This corrects the earlier generalized value of 0.8 kg on the product page. Search forms 56.9918.00 and 56 9918 00 are included as alternative punctuation, while NVKV.303674.001 is recorded as a documented newer designation. None of these forms should be treated as proof of interchangeability without dimensional confirmation.

Before use, inspect the bracket for deformation, cracks and damaged protective lining. Check the handle attachment and ensure the groove is clean so that the trim tab surface is not scored.
