Operating function and protection principle

The primary operating role is automatic disconnection under overload or short-circuit conditions. During normal operation current passes through the breaker contacts to the protected consumer. An unacceptable overload or fault causes the protective mechanism to open the circuit and isolate the affected feeder. Where the family uses trip-free action, restraining the control member in the ON position must not prevent an automatic trip.

The designation A-60 identifies a 60 A execution. The family configuration is described as “High-current DC circuit breaker” for 27 v dc aircraft network. These are family-level identification data, not a substitute for the product passport. Voltage tolerances, time-current curve, breaking capacity and installation limits must be verified for the exact unit.

Aircraft installation and applicability

Aircraft circuit breakers are installed on breaker panels, distribution boards, feeder circuits and control lines supplying instruments, actuators, lighting and auxiliary equipment. Electrical inspection follows approved documentation and may include contact resistance, insulation and trip-performance checks at specified current levels. Adjustment using data from a different rating is not acceptable. After installation, correct terminal torque and absence of abnormal heating under load must be confirmed.
