barometric altimeter
UVID-30-15K Series 2 is an aircraft electromechanical barometric altimeter used for measuring and displaying the current relative flight altitude of an aircraft. The instrument operates by sensing changes in atmospheric static pressure and converting them into altitude indication on the cockpit display. It is installed on aircraft instrument panels and is used by the crew as part of the flight instrument set. In addition to visual altitude indication, the unit can provide altitude-related electrical output to compatible automatic and air data systems.
The UVID-30-15K Series 2 measures altitude within the barometric principle of operation. As the aircraft climbs or descends, static pressure changes, and the internal measuring mechanism converts this change into altitude indication. The instrument covers the altitude range required for medium and high-altitude aircraft applications. Its pressure setting mechanism allows the crew to input ground pressure within the specified range, which is needed for relative altitude indication. Accuracy depends on correct pressure setting, static system condition, instrument calibration and compliance with maintenance documentation.
The UVID-30-15K Series 2 is not only a cockpit indicating instrument. It also provides electrical signals for aircraft systems that require altitude information. The instrument can issue current altitude data as relative electrical resistance for compatible air data or automatic control systems, such as SVS-PN-15-4A where applicable. It can also provide discrete signaling related to the pressure setting position and power supply status. Because of this, the altimeter should be treated as both a pilot display instrument and an electromechanical signal source within the aircraft avionics system.
The “K” index in UVID-30-15K refers to cockpit readability features of the indicating elements. The figures and scale elements are coated with white enamel for use in cockpits equipped with red lighting. This makes the instrument suitable for aircraft cockpit lighting arrangements where standard markings may not provide the required readability. When ordering or replacing the instrument, the “K” version should be specified because cockpit lighting compatibility and front-panel presentation can matter for installation and crew use.
The UVID-30-15K Series 2 altimeter is used on Soviet and civil aircraft and helicopters, depending on aircraft documentation and installed instrument panel configuration. Application references include Tu-134, Tu-154, Il-62, Il-76T, An-26 and Yak-40 aircraft. The instrument may also be associated with aircraft systems where altitude output is used by automatic equipment. Since aircraft can differ by modification, cockpit layout and avionics configuration, applicability should be confirmed through the aircraft parts catalog, instrument list and maintenance documentation before supply or installation.
Before ordering UVID-30-15K Series 2, the full designation, series, required condition, power supply configuration and documentation set should be confirmed. The unit may be required for cockpit instrument replacement, avionics repair, warehouse stock or system restoration. For service use, the buyer should clarify whether a product passport, test records, calibration certificate or connector data are needed. Because the instrument includes a barometric measuring mechanism and electromechanical signal outputs, acceptance should include visual condition, pressure connection condition, electrical connector condition, calibration status and documentation.
