AF amplifier
SB4-B1-YARII is a removable electronic subunit used as the signal detector and audio-frequency amplifier board in the B1-YARII receiver-exciter of the Yadro-1 airborne HF radio station. The module operates in the receive signal path and is responsible for extracting the audio component from the processed radio signal and amplifying it for further use by aircraft audio equipment. It is installed inside the parent receiver-exciter assembly and is not used as a standalone aircraft radio unit.
The SB4-B1-YARII module performs signal detection after the received signal has passed through previous selection and intermediate-frequency processing stages. Its detector section extracts the low-frequency speech component from the converted radio signal. This function is required for turning the received HF radio signal into usable audio information for the crew. Correct detector operation affects speech intelligibility, reception quality and the stability of audio output from the Yadro-1 radio station.
In addition to detection, SB4-B1-YARII includes audio-frequency amplification stages. The AF amplifier raises the detected audio signal to a level suitable for further routing to aircraft audio output equipment. This may include the aircraft intercom system, pilot headphones or other compatible onboard audio circuits, depending on the aircraft installation. If the module is defective, typical symptoms may include weak audio, distorted reception, absence of speech output or unstable low-frequency signal delivery from the receiver-exciter.
The SB4-B1-YARII subunit is part of the modular structure of the B1-YARII receiver-exciter. In the receive path, it receives the filtered and amplified signal from the SB2-B1 main signal selector / IF amplifier module. Inside SB4-B1, the signal is detected and then amplified at audio frequency. In system context, SB4-B1 also interacts with transmission-related audio circuits where low-frequency signal preparation and compression stages are used by the modulator path. Exact internal signal routing depends on the receiver-exciter documentation.
SB4-B1-YARII is associated with the Yadro-1 airborne HF radio communication system and may also be referenced in the context of Yadro-II equipment, depending on documentation and designation practice. The radio station is used on different civil and military aircraft and helicopters equipped with compatible HF communication equipment. Application may include Mi-8 and Mi-17 family helicopters and other aircraft types. Since radio installations differ by aircraft, system version and modernization status, applicability should be confirmed by the equipment list and parent assembly configuration.
The module may be referenced as SB4-B1-YARII, SB4B-B1-YARII, СБ4-Б1-ЯРII, СБ4-Б1-ЯPII or SB4-B1-YARII Unit. It may also be described as an AF amplifier board, audio frequency amplifier board, AFA signal detector, signal detector, electronic module, board or subunit. Before ordering, the exact parent assembly, decimal number, required condition and documentation set should be confirmed. The unit may be required for receiver path repair, B1-YARII receiver-exciter restoration, audio output troubleshooting or replacement of a defective detector / AF amplifier module.
