Radio Station
Available on back-order
Baklan-20 is an onboard aircraft VHF radio station designed to provide simplex voice communication between aircraft crews, helicopters and ground air traffic control stations. The radio station operates in the civil aviation VHF band and is used for air-to-ground and air-to-air radiotelephone communication. Compared with Baklan-5, the Baklan-20 version has increased transmitter output power, which makes it suitable for aircraft requiring higher communication range and stronger VHF transmission capability.
The Baklan-20 radio station provides voice communication in simplex mode, where reception and transmission are performed alternately on the same selected frequency. The station operates within the standard aircraft VHF communication range and supports fixed-channel operation according to the installed frequency grid. Communication range depends on flight altitude, antenna installation, radio conditions and aircraft configuration. At higher flight altitude, the station can provide long-range communication with ground dispatch services and other aircraft.
Control of the Baklan-20 radio station is performed remotely from the cockpit through a dedicated control panel. The crew uses the panel to select operating frequencies or channels and adjust audio level according to aircraft communication procedures. This arrangement allows the main radio blocks to be installed in the radio equipment compartment, while the flight crew retains direct control of the station from the cockpit. The exact panel version depends on aircraft configuration and radio station modification.
Baklan-20 is built according to a block-modular layout. The standard working set may include the transceiver, remote control panel, additional low-frequency amplifier, shock-mount frame, connecting cables and connectors. The transceiver forms, amplifies and receives VHF radio signals. The low-frequency amplifier supports audio output to the aircraft intercom system or crew headsets. The shock-mount frame provides mechanical installation and vibration protection of the radio equipment during aircraft operation.
Baklan-20 was widely used on Soviet and Russian civil and transport aircraft, as well as on helicopters equipped with compatible VHF radio communication systems. Typical aircraft applications may include An-24, An-26, Il-76, Tu-134, Mi-8 and other aircraft where Baklan-family radio stations are approved by aircraft documentation. Installation layout, antenna connection and block composition should always be confirmed by the aircraft equipment list and maintenance documentation.
The product may be referenced as Baklan-20 or Баклан-20. For correct supply, it is useful to specify whether the request concerns a complete radio station set or separate components, such as the transceiver, remote control panel, low-frequency amplifier, shock-mount frame, cables or connectors. It is also important to confirm aircraft type, frequency grid, set configuration, single or paired installation, condition and documentation requirements before supply or replacement.
