The LPG-300 is an aircraft electric hoist used as a key unit of the SLG-300 helicopter cargo hoist system. It is designed for lifting, lowering and moving loads, as well as for lifting and lowering personnel during helicopter hover operation. The hoist is used on Mi-8, Mi-17 and related helicopter types depending on configuration. In operation, the LPG-300 works together with the onboard boom, control box, control panel and rope system installed near the helicopter sliding door.
The LPG-300 is used for external cargo handling when the helicopter cannot land or when the load must be moved from a confined area. The rated load on the rope is 2940 N, equal to 300 kgf. In practical operation, the hoist may be used for loads up to 200 kg in flight operation and up to 300 kg in ground-related handling, depending on the applicable procedure. Exact limitations must be checked by helicopter operating documentation and mission rules.
The LPG-300 can be used for lifting and lowering people during rescue, evacuation and special operations. The system allows personnel movement during helicopter hover at heights up to 50 m. The source data refers to lifting or lowering not more than two persons, within the allowable load and operational procedure. For personnel operations, condition of the rope, hook, brake, control circuit, boom, hoist mounting and safety devices must be checked especially carefully.
The LPG-300 uses a 60 m rope with a diameter of 5 mm. Rope release and retrieval are performed in several speed modes, with smooth control through the system control panel. Rope release speed can reach 2.0 m/s, with a low-speed mode around 0.5 m/s. Rope retrieval speed is about 0.3 to 1.4 m/s depending on selected mode and load. This allows the operator to control the load gently near the ground, obstacle, deck or rescue point.
The hoist uses two ADD-3000 electric motors. The LPG-300 system works with aircraft onboard power supplies, including 27 V DC and 200 V three-phase AC at 400 Hz. This dual electrical requirement is important when checking compatibility with a helicopter system. Before installation or test operation, the power supply lines, connectors, control circuits, motor condition and protective devices must be checked according to SLG-300 and helicopter maintenance documentation.
The LPG-300 includes a friction clutch that protects the gearbox and electric motors during short-term overloads. This helps prevent mechanical damage in the reducer and protects the drive system under abnormal load conditions. The hoist also includes a rope tensioning / take-up mechanism used during rope release or retrieval without load. These functions are important because slack rope, shock loading or incorrect winding can create dangerous operating conditions.
If the electric drive fails completely, the LPG-300 allows manual rope release and retrieval using a removable manual drive handle, such as RRP-200A. This emergency function is important during rescue and cargo operations because the suspended load or personnel must still be recovered or lowered safely if the electrical drive becomes unavailable. Manual operation should be performed only according to the approved procedure and with proper crew coordination.
The LPG-300 is not normally used as a standalone item. It operates as part of the SLG-300 helicopter hoist system. The onboard system may include the LPG-300 electric hoist, KUP-300 control box, PUL-300 control panel with smooth speed control lever, manual drive handle and onboard boom mounted near the helicopter sliding door. When ordering or troubleshooting, it is useful to specify whether the requirement concerns the complete system, the hoist only, control units, boom, rope, handle or related spare parts.
For procurement or repair, the product should be specified as LPG-300 / ЛПГ-300 electric hoist for the SLG-300 helicopter hoist system. Before installation, the unit should be checked for rope condition, drum operation, gearbox condition, clutch function, motor condition, connector integrity, mounting points, control response and documentation. For aviation use, product passport, repair documents, test report, acceptance documents or overhaul records should be confirmed before delivery.
