Signal conditioning through USS-6 Series 2

During operation, the MV-03-1 sensor converts engine vibration into an electrical signal. This signal comes from the engine area, where vibration, temperature changes and electrical noise are normal operating factors. USS-6 Series 2 performs matching, filtering and stabilization before the signal is sent to the BE-9E block. Without this intermediate unit, the processing block may receive a distorted or unstable input, which can affect warning accuracy.

USS-6 Series 2 in the IV-500E vibration chain

In the IV-500E set, two USS-6 Series 2 units are used, one for each engine channel. The full system also includes two MV-03-1 vibration sensors, the BE-9E Series 2 electronic unit, cockpit annunciator lights, test button and mounting elements. The sensors are installed on the engines, while the USS-6 units are placed inside the aircraft according to the factory installation scheme. In Mi-8 / Mi-17 installations, this is commonly linked with the cargo cabin overhead frame or avionics mounting area.

Aircraft application of USS-6 Series 2

USS-6 Series 2 is used on Mi-8 / Mi-17 family helicopters equipped with IV-500E vibration monitoring equipment, including Mi-8MT, Mi-8AMT, Mi-171 and Mi-171E variants. The unit is also applicable to similar multi-engine aircraft installations where IV-500E equipment is fitted. In service, it supports continuous vibration monitoring and helps maintain stable signal transfer from the engine-mounted sensor to the aircraft warning system.
