indicator
UR-117M is an aircraft engine mode indicator used as part of IR-117 / IR-117M engine control and indication systems. The instrument is installed in the cockpit and displays parameters needed to assess engine operating conditions. It is not a pressure receiver or a temperature sensor by itself. The unit receives signals from connected sensing elements and presents processed information to the flight crew. In helicopter applications, it supports monitoring of engine modes during start, takeoff, cruise and other operating phases.
The indicator displays data related to compressor outlet air pressure, atmospheric pressure and outside air temperature. These parameters are used to assess the current operating mode of the engine under changing flight conditions. Compressor outlet pressure reflects the engine’s internal operating state, while atmospheric pressure and air temperature help correct the indication for the surrounding environment. This allows the crew to read the operating mode more reliably than from a single uncorrected pressure value.
The instrument operates with pressure and temperature sensing elements used in the IR-117 / IR-117M measuring chain. Pressure receivers provide compressor outlet and atmospheric pressure data, while the temperature receiver supplies outside air temperature input. The indicator depends on correct sensor signals, wiring condition and power supply stability. If indication is incorrect or unstable, the check should include the connected sensors, pressure lines, electrical connectors, aircraft wiring and the indicator itself.
UR-117M is used on aircraft equipped with compatible IR-117 or IR-117M systems, including helicopters of the Mi-8 / Mi-17 family depending on configuration. The unit is installed on the left pilot instrument panel where engine mode information is available to the crew during flight. Exact applicability depends on the helicopter modification, engine installation and onboard indication system. Similar aircraft may use different indicator versions, so replacement should be confirmed by the aircraft documentation.
Before ordering, the full marking of the indicator should be checked against the aircraft parts catalog, IR-117 / IR-117M documentation or product passport. It is also important to confirm the installed system variant, sensor set and cockpit panel layout. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, engine type, system designation, existing instrument marking and a photo of the scale or data plate if available. The product is also known under alternative designations UR-117M and УР-117М.
