Engine operating mode meter

IR-117M is an aircraft engine operating mode meter used in helicopter engine control and indication systems. The instrument helps the crew monitor engine operating modes by measuring air pressure downstream of the compressor. This pressure is used as one of the main reference parameters for assessing the current operating condition of the engine. The unit is intended for cockpit indication and mode monitoring, not for direct mechanical control of fuel supply or engine actuators.
The instrument receives pressure data from dedicated pressure receivers connected to the compressor outlet air line. The measured value is displayed to support selection and maintenance of engine operating modes during flight and ground operation. Since compressor outlet pressure changes with engine load and flight conditions, the meter uses correction inputs to provide a more reliable indication. These corrections help the system account for altitude and temperature effects, instead of showing pressure as an isolated value.
The system operates together with a DVK altitude correction sensor, PM-10MR pressure receivers and a P-1 temperature receiver. These elements form a combined measuring chain for engine mode indication. The pressure receivers provide compressor outlet pressure input, the altitude sensor supports static pressure correction, and the temperature receiver adds correction for air temperature. If the indication is unstable or outside expected values, the check should include the instrument, pressure lines, sensors, wiring and correction circuits.
The instrument is used on helicopters equipped with compatible engine indication systems, including Mi-8 family platforms. It provides information needed for takeoff, nominal and cruise engine operating modes. Exact applicability depends on the installed engine type, aircraft modification and configuration of the onboard indication system. Similar aircraft may use different versions of engine mode instruments, so replacement should be confirmed by the aircraft maintenance documentation, engine documentation or system passport.
Before ordering, the full marking and set configuration should be checked. A complete supply set may include the operating mode indicator, altitude correction sensor, pressure receivers and temperature receiver. For correct selection, provide the helicopter type, engine type, installed indication system, existing instrument marking and available passport data. The product is also known under alternative designations IR-117M and ИР-117М.
