Description

P8U selector in the SKES-2027 fuel quantity system

The P8U is an aircraft tank selector switch used in SKES-2027 electric fuel quantity measuring systems. It is installed in the cockpit and allows the crew to select which fuel tank is displayed on the central indicator. The switch does not measure fuel level by itself. It connects the selected tank transmitter circuit to the cockpit indicator, so the crew can read fuel quantity from the required tank or tank group.

Fuel tank selection through the P8U switch

In operation, the selector changes the measuring channel of the fuel quantity system. When the handle is moved to a fixed position, the circuit of the corresponding tank transmitter is connected to the indicator. This allows the BE-09K indicator or a similar cockpit instrument to display the fuel level for the selected tank. The switch is used for low-power signal switching in the measuring circuit, not for fuel pump or valve control.

P8U with BE-09K indicator and DTPR transmitters

The switch works together with the BE-09K fuel quantity indicator, DTPR lever-float fuel transmitters and, where installed, IDP-1 float sensor simulators. In Mi-8 / Mi-17 fuel systems, the selected channel may correspond to the service tank, left external tank, right external tank, additional tank or other configured tank group. If the indication is incorrect, the fault may be in the selector contacts, wiring, indicator, transmitter, grounding or adjustment circuit.

Aircraft application of the P8U selector

The P8U is used on aircraft equipped with SKES-2027 fuel quantity systems, including SKES-2027A, SKES-2027B, SKES-2027V and SKES-2027I variants. Typical applications include Mi-8 family helicopters, such as Mi-8T, Mi-8MTV-1, Mi-8AMT, Mi-17 and related configurations. Some versions may have cockpit lighting features, including red-light filter execution for night cockpit illumination. The exact version should be checked against the aircraft documentation.

Identification and ordering of P8U

Before ordering, the switch marking should be compared with the fuel system documentation, aircraft parts catalog or the SKES-2027 set passport. It is important to confirm the required version, number of positions, lighting execution and connector configuration. For correct selection, provide the helicopter type, installed fuel quantity system, panel position and a photo of the existing switch if possible. The product is also known under alternative designations P8U, P-8U, P8UK, P-8UK and П8У.
