Tank Selector Switch
Available on back-order
P8UK is an aircraft rotary wafer switch used in the SKES-2027B electric fuel quantity measuring system. The switch is installed on the cockpit electrical or fuel indication panel and allows the crew to select which fuel tank signal is displayed on the main fuel quantity indicator. Since the aircraft fuel system includes several tanks, the selector connects the required transmitter circuit to the cockpit indicator. The unit is a switching device, not a fuel level sensor.
The switch has fixed positions corresponding to the fuel tank layout of the aircraft. Typical positions may include total fuel quantity, service tank, left external tank, right external tank and additional tanks, depending on the helicopter configuration. When the handle is turned to a selected position, the measuring bridge circuit receives the signal from the related DTPR fuel transmitter. This allows the pilot or flight engineer to check the fuel quantity in a specific tank using a single cockpit indicator.
P8UK works with the BE-09K fuel quantity indicator and DTPR lever-float fuel transmitters installed in the tanks. It may also be used in systems where IDP-1 float sensor simulators are installed for removable additional tanks. The switch commutates low-current measuring circuits and, depending on the aircraft wiring, may also be linked with indication or test circuits. If the fuel reading is incorrect, the check should include selector contacts, wiring, indicator, transmitters, simulator circuits and grounding.
The switch is built as a multi-position aviation rotary mechanism with fixed detents. It is intended for panel mounting with screw attachment and rear plug connection. In cockpit installations, the marking around the selector positions usually follows the tank designations used in the aircraft fuel system. Some versions may include lighting or red-light adaptation for night cockpit operation. For replacement, the panel version, position marking, connector type and lighting execution should be checked before confirming interchangeability.
Before ordering, the exact marking should be checked against the SKES-2027B passport, aircraft parts catalog or fuel system documentation. P8UK may appear together with related designations such as P8U, P-8U or P-8UK, but the installed version should be confirmed by aircraft documentation. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, installed fuel quantity system, cockpit panel position, required number of positions and a photo of the existing switch. The product is also known under alternative designations P8UK, P-8UK and П8УК.
