Description

Piezoelectric vibration sensor MV-03

The MV-03 is an aircraft piezoelectric vibration sensor used in engine vibration monitoring systems. It is installed directly on the engine casing and converts mechanical vibration into an electrical signal. The sensor is used as part of the IV-500E equipment on Mi-8 / Mi-17 family helicopters with TV3-117 engines. Unlike the MV-03-1 version, the MV-03 is supplied as the sensor body only, without the factory cable.

Vibration signal from MV-03

During engine operation, the MV-03 detects vibration from the engine structure and produces a signal proportional to the measured vibration level. This signal is sent through the aircraft-installed cable to the USS-6 matching unit. After matching and conditioning, the signal goes to the BE-9E electronic block, where it is compared with preset warning thresholds. The complete signal chain is MV-03 → USS-6 → BE-9E → cockpit alerting.

MV-03 in IV-500E vibration monitoring equipment

The MV-03 sensor works within the IV-500E vibration monitoring system, which is used to monitor engine vibration velocity during flight and ground operation. The system helps detect vibration patterns linked with mechanical imbalance, rotor or bearing wear, shaft alignment issues and other dynamic engine abnormalities. The sensor itself does not make warning decisions. It only supplies the primary vibration signal for further processing by the IV-500E equipment.

Application of MV-03 on TV3-117 powered helicopters

The MV-03 is associated with Mi-8, Mi-17 and Mi-171 helicopters powered by TV3-117 engines. The sensor is mounted externally on the engine according to the aircraft and engine installation documentation. Since it is supplied without cable, the condition of the aircraft wiring, shielding and connector path is especially important. A weak or unstable vibration signal can be caused by sensor failure, but also by cable damage, poor grounding or incorrect mounting on the engine casing.

Identification and ordering of MV-03

Before ordering MV-03, the sensor marking should be checked against the IV-500E documentation, aircraft wiring scheme and engine installation data. It is also important to confirm whether the required item is MV-03 sensor only or MV-03-1 with standard factory cable. For correct selection, provide the helicopter type, engine type, installed vibration monitoring system and photos of the existing sensor if available. The product is also known under alternative designations MV-03, MV03, МВ-03 and МВ03.
