The NSH-39M is a high-pressure gear-type hydraulic pump used in aircraft and helicopter hydraulic systems. It supplies working fluid under pressure to the onboard hydraulic circuit. The pump does not regulate the system by itself and does not switch consumers on or off. Its task is to deliver AMG-10 or AMG-10B hydraulic fluid from the system tank into the pressure line. On Mi-8 type helicopters, technical materials describe NSH-39M pumps as the pressure source for hydraulic boosters KAU-30B and RA-60B.
In operation, the NSH-39M is driven mechanically from the helicopter transmission system. The rotating gear set draws hydraulic fluid into the pump and delivers it to the hydraulic line under pressure. The main and standby hydraulic systems of Mi-8 helicopters each use one NSH-39M pump in the hydraulic layout described in training and maintenance materials. The pump output then feeds the hydraulic system through filters, pressure control units, accumulators, pipelines, and valves before reaching the boosters and other connected consumers.
The NSH-39M is closely linked with the flight control hydraulic system because the hydraulic boosters need a stable pressure supply. KAU-30B units are used in the main rotor control channels, while RA-60B is associated with the directional control channel. The pump supplies the pressure needed for these units to work correctly. If a control channel feels heavy or hydraulic pressure is unstable, the pump is only one part of the check. Maintenance personnel usually also inspect the hydraulic fluid, filters, GA-77V pressure control unit, accumulators, leaks, and return lines.
The NSH-39M is used on Mi-8 and Mi-17 family helicopters and may appear in systems with similar hydraulic architecture. Open catalog references also list NSH-39M as a pump used on Mi-8 and Il-76, while Mi-8 hydraulic system materials give the clearest description of its function. Exact applicability should still be checked by the aircraft parts catalog and maintenance documentation. A pump with the same general type may differ by rotation direction, installation details, or documentation requirement.
Before ordering, the marking on the installed pump should be compared with the aircraft documentation or pump passport. In English-language requests, the unit may appear as NSH39M, NSH-39M, or NSh-39M. In Russian documentation, the equivalent designation is НШ-39М. It is useful to confirm the aircraft type, installation position, direction of rotation, and whether the request is for the complete pump assembly or related pump parts. The product is also known under alternative designation НШ-39М.
