In normal operation, KAU-115 transfers pilot control input into movement of the connected control mechanism. The unit can work in a mechanical-hydraulic mode, where pilot input is transmitted through the control linkage, and in a combined mode, where electrical correction signals are added through the onboard flight-navigation equipment. The KAU-115 is used in the longitudinal, lateral, directional, and collective pitch control channels.
