The MPK-13A-5 Series 2 is an aircraft rotary electromechanism used for remote movement of valves, flaps, shut-off units and similar control elements. It is installed in systems where the crew or automatic control equipment must open or close a mechanical unit without direct manual access. The mechanism converts an electrical command from the aircraft DC network into rotation of the output shaft. In aircraft practice, such units are used where a compact, predictable and mechanically strong actuator is needed for air, fuel, hydraulic or auxiliary system control.
The MPK-13A-5 is designed to work with controlled elements that have a limited angular travel. The output shaft turns the connected valve or flap through the required angle and stops at the end positions defined by external mechanical stops. This makes the mechanism suitable for equipment where the final “open” and “closed” positions are set by the controlled unit itself. The electromechanism does not require continuous manual adjustment during operation. This protects the drive from unnecessary loading at the end of travel and makes the mechanism suitable for repeated open / close commands. The design also provides electrical signaling of the shaft end positions, so the control system can receive confirmation that the commanded position has been reached.
The MPK-13A-5 is built for aircraft service conditions, where vibration, temperature changes and mechanical loads are part of normal operation. The mechanism must provide enough output torque to move the connected valve or flap while maintaining reliable operation of the motor, gearbox, contacts and position signaling elements. During inspection, attention should be paid to shaft movement, backlash, connector condition, motor current, end-position signaling, mounting points and signs of overheating or mechanical damage. A mechanism that is electrically alive but mechanically stiff may still be unsuitable for installation.
