Brake pack function of KT158-040

The KT158-040 disc works inside the multi-disc hydraulic brake assembly. During braking, AMG-10 hydraulic fluid pressure acts on the brake pistons, which press against the disc pack. The support disc closes the pack and transfers the compression force through the friction stack. This allows the brake to generate the friction torque required to slow the aircraft during landing rollout, taxiing or rejected takeoff conditions. Correct condition of the support disc is important for even brake pack compression and stable brake performance.

KT158-040 as a stationary support element

KT158-040 is described as a stationary support disc. It is fixed in the brake body and does not rotate together with the wheel. The disc has internal splines or seating grooves that engage with the longitudinal guides of the KT158-030 brake body. This prevents rotation of the disc relative to the wheel axis and keeps the support element aligned inside the brake assembly. The disc works with rotating metal-ceramic discs and stationary bimetallic discs that form the complete friction package.

The KT158-040 support disc operates under high thermal and mechanical loads.
