KZV-0-15 altitude corrector-setter in autopilot systems

KZV-0-15 is an aircraft altitude corrector-setter used for setting, measuring and automatic stabilization of a selected flight altitude. The unit works in pilot-navigation complexes and automatic flight control systems, where it forms an altitude deviation signal for the autopilot. It is installed on aircraft and helicopters that use compatible Soviet and Russian automatic control systems. Altitude stabilization function of KZV-0-15

The KZV-0-15 is used in the altitude stabilization loop of the aircraft automatic control system. When the autopilot altitude stabilization mode is engaged, the instrument fixes the current barometric pressure reference and reacts to later deviations from that level. If the aircraft moves away from the selected altitude, the unit generates an electrical altitude deviation signal. This signal is then used by the autopilot system to return the aircraft to the selected altitude or flight level. The device therefore works as a sensing and command-forming element in the automatic altitude control channel.

Aneroid-membrane principle of KZV-0-15

The KZV-0-15 belongs to aneroid-membrane instruments that respond to changes in static air pressure. The sensitive element is an aneroid capsule connected to the aircraft static pressure line. As static pressure changes with altitude, the instrument detects the deviation from the fixed reference condition and converts it into an electrical signal. The unit operates in modes such as zeroing, where it follows current altitude, and correction, where it supports stabilization at the selected altitude. This electromechanical operating principle makes the instrument part of both the air data and autopilot control chain.

The KZV-0-15 interacts with the air data / static pressure system, the pilot-navigation complex and the automatic flight control system.
