GMI-6
Double beam pulse modulator tetrode
Description
Purpose and application
GMI-6 is a double beam tetrode for pulse modulators. Two matched tetrode systems share one glass envelope and are used together in high-current pulse switching circuits.
Full descriptionCollapse description
Construction
The heater may be connected in series at 12.6 V and 1.1 ± 0.1 A or in parallel at 6.3 V and 2.2 ± 0.2 A. The two separate top contacts are the anode terminals.
Operating data
Rated anode voltage is 1 kV; maximum anode voltage is 4 kV. Minimum pulse anode current is 8 A, input capacitance is 14.5 ± 3.5 pF, output capacitance 5.2 ± 1 pF and transfer capacitance no more than 0.2 pF.
Cooling and selection
The glass baseless tube uses natural cooling. Dimensions are approximately 48 × 93 mm and minimum service life is 600 hours. Both tetrode systems must share dissipation evenly.
Vacuum device construction is outlined in the vacuum tube article. Related products are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
