GI-63B
Metal-ceramic pulse generator triode
Description
Purpose and application
GI-63B is a compact metal-ceramic pulse generator triode for wideband RF power amplification with anode modulation. It is intended for stationary and mobile radio equipment and operates at frequencies up to 250 MHz.
Full descriptionCollapse description
Construction
The tube has an indirectly heated oxide cathode and an external anode. Its coaxial disc construction combines machined metal contacts with a ceramic insulating ring and is designed for installation in the matching RF socket and cooling assembly.
Operating data
Useful pulse output is specified at 2.3 kW at frequencies up to 250 MHz. Maximum anode dissipation is 250 W. The operating mode, supply voltages and pulse conditions must be taken from the equipment documentation for the specific circuit.
Cooling and selection
The external anode requires forced-air cooling. Before installation, inspect the purple ceramic ring, concentric metal contacts and radiator surface, then verify the exact GI-63B designation and specification OD0.331.126 TU.
The operating principle is covered in the vacuum tube article. Related devices are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
