Regulated Axial Plunger Pump
Out of stock
The NP-160D is a high-pressure axial plunger pump with automatically regulated delivery. The unit converts mechanical rotation of the drive shaft into hydraulic energy of the working fluid flow. It is used in aviation and specialized industrial fluid-power systems where compact size, high pressure and controlled delivery are required. Depending on the installation, the pump may work in hydraulic control circuits or in engine-related fuel / hydraulic control systems, so the exact working medium must always be confirmed by the equipment documentation.
The NP-160D automatically changes its delivery according to system demand. The volumetric flow depends on drive shaft speed and the current working volume of the pumping chambers. This allows the pump to maintain pressure and reduce unnecessary delivery when the controlled circuit does not require full flow. In practical operation, this is important for aircraft systems where the load changes quickly and the pump must react without constant manual adjustment. Stable regulation depends on the condition of the pump, inlet pressure, fluid quality and connected control elements.
The pump belongs to the axial plunger / axial piston class of positive-displacement hydraulic machines. This type of design is used where high pressure must be generated in a compact and relatively light unit. The NP-160D has a small working volume compared with larger main hydraulic pumps, but it operates at high pressure and is intended for demanding control circuits. Because of this, contamination, cavitation, poor inlet pressure or incorrect fluid viscosity can quickly affect pump performance and service life.
The NP-160D is mechanically driven from an engine accessory drive, gearbox or other designated drive unit depending on the aircraft or installation. The pump is mounted by its drive flange, and the shaft connection must match the drive system. For aviation use, proper alignment, spline condition, flange sealing and clean hydraulic or fuel connections are critical. Before installation, the pump body, drive shaft, mounting flange, fittings, drain path and signs of previous storage or repair should be inspected carefully.
In some aircraft applications, the NP-160D is associated with engine control and high-pressure supply circuits for modern fighter aircraft powerplants. It is mentioned in connection with Su-35 / Su-35S aircraft and AL-41F1S / Product 117S engine systems, where high-pressure fluid supply is required for engine automation and nozzle control functions. Pumps of the NP-160 family are also associated with Su-27 and Su-30 family aircraft depending on modification. Exact applicability should be verified by the aircraft and engine documentation before replacement.
The NP-160D may be used with aviation hydraulic fluids, specialized technical oils, or fuel-related working media depending on the exact system. This point should not be guessed during procurement. The working fluid grade must be taken from the aircraft, engine or stand documentation. For an axial plunger pump, fluid cleanliness is critical. Contaminated fluid, incorrect viscosity, air in the inlet line, low inlet pressure or blocked filters can cause unstable pressure, noise, overheating and accelerated wear of the plunger group.
For procurement, the full designation NP-160D should be used. The unit may be supplied new, from storage, repaired, overhauled or bench-tested depending on availability. Before installation, it should be checked for shaft condition, flange condition, housing damage, port threads, regulator operation, leakage traces, storage condition and compatibility with the required working medium. For aircraft or engine use, bench-test documents, repair records, passport data and applicable technical documentation should be confirmed before installation.
