PTS-500S is a three-phase static converter used to supply a defined alternating-current output from a 48 V DC onboard source. Its published output is 36 V AC, three phase, without a neutral point, at 1,000 Hz. The unit is part of the aircraft electrical power system rather than an independent avionics instrument: it converts available DC power into the form required by connected consumers and associated equipment.
A static converter performs this task without a rotating machine. The input DC power is electronically converted into a controlled three-phase AC output. In service, the quality of the output depends on the converter itself, the incoming supply, the wiring, protective devices and the load connected to the system. The unit should therefore be selected and tested only against the applicable aircraft documentation.
The PTS-500S is identified in the SEP-U electrical power system together with the PPS-1000S converter. Existing documentation describes the PPS-1000S as the associated unit that provides the 48 V DC supply and ±12 V circuits for the PTS-500S installation. The PTS-500S then produces the required three-phase alternating supply for the relevant part of the onboard network.
This association does not mean that the two units are an inseparable delivery set. Before ordering a replacement, confirm the aircraft wiring diagram, required converter index, connector configuration and the role of the PPS-1000S in the particular installation. This is especially important on aircraft that have been repaired, modernised or modified during service.
Published data for the converter specifies a nominal output of 500 VA with a load power factor of 0.6 lagging. The maximum current is stated as 8 A. The stated input supply is 48 V DC with a tolerance of ±12 V; the output frequency is 1,000 Hz. These parameters describe the unit’s intended electrical environment and should not be treated as a substitute for an aircraft acceptance or bench-test procedure.
The converter is listed with a maximum mass of 5.5 kg without the vibration-isolation mount. Overall dimensions are stated as 268.5 × 94 × 195 mm. No reliable open-source information was found for connector part numbers, environmental limits, overhaul life or permissible installation positions, so these items are not claimed here.
The existing Aviamisto card identifies T6M2, C54, T-8, T-8K, T-8M, T-8UB and T-8UBK as the aircraft references associated with this converter. The T-8 designation is associated with the Sukhoi Su-25 development family. The exact applicability must be verified against the illustrated parts catalogue and electrical schematic for the individual airframe and modification. The current quick external search did not independently confirm every one of these installation references, so they should be used as a starting point for identification, not as universal interchangeability approval.
For a replacement request, provide the part number from the installed unit, aircraft type and modification, serial or passport data when available, and photographs of the connectors and mounting arrangement. This allows the supply to be checked against the actual installation rather than only against the family designation.
PTS-500S is listed in the Aviamisto power transducers category. The product is offered on a pre-order basis. Request the current delivery terms, condition, included documentation and whether the vibration-isolation mount is included before placing an order. If a serviceable unit is required for a specific aircraft, compatibility and functional condition must be confirmed through the applicable maintenance documentation and inspection records.
