Design and operation

The light incorporates an electrically driven deployment and aiming mechanism. Its adjustable working section directs the beam toward the required area ahead of the aircraft. Correct selection therefore depends on the electrical rating, installation dimensions, deployment range and motor current, rather than on the designation alone.

Aircraft application

Industry catalogues identify the MPRF-1M for Mi-2 and Mi-8 applications. Installation may differ between aircraft variants, so compatibility should be confirmed against the illustrated parts catalogue, aircraft records or the marking of the unit being replaced.

Selection checks

Before ordering, compare the MPRF-1M designation, 27 V supply, 318 × 205 × 87 mm dimensions, mounting points and electrical connection. Photographs of the nameplate and installation position help avoid confusion with visually similar lights. The installed lamp-light and delivery set should be agreed separately.

Landing and taxi operating modes

Landing and taxi illumination serve different purposes. The landing mode must light a more distant section of the runway, while the taxi mode provides visibility closer to the aircraft during ground movement. The MPRF-1M ratings reflect these functions: up to 230 W for landing light and up to 150 W for taxi light. Inspection should confirm correct switching of both modes, smooth movement of the drive and normal clutch operation without sticking.

With a weight of up to 4.5 kg and an integrated electric drive, the MPRF-1M is more than a fixed lamp housing. Incoming inspection should cover the casing, optical components, hinges, wiring, connector and mechanical play in the deployment assembly.
