The FPR-14 is a fixed aircraft external light. It is listed within the landing and taxi light family, while on the Il-76 it is used for short-term illumination of the stabilizer and engine nacelles.

In-flight inspection
The directed beam allows the crew to inspect external surfaces at night and identify visible signs of ice. This Il-76 application distinguishes the FPR-14 from a conventional taxi light because it illuminates specific airframe and powerplant areas for observation.
Light source and beam
The assembly uses an LFSM 27-450+250 dual-filament lamp-light. One filament produces a higher-intensity narrow beam and the second provides broader illumination. The unit operates from the 27 V aircraft electrical system and must be used according to the aircraft operating documentation.
Selection and installation
Before ordering, compare the FPR-14 designation, mounting arrangement, dimensions, electrical connection and installed lamp-light. Confirmed application is documented for the Il-76; use on any other aircraft must be verified against the relevant parts catalogue or maintenance documentation.
Il-76 installation role
On the Il-76, FPR-14 lights belong to the equipment used for inspection of external surfaces. They are switched on briefly when the crew needs to illuminate the stabilizer or engine nacelles and assess visible ice formation. Describing the unit only as a conventional runway light would therefore be incomplete and misleading.
The assembly is secured by four M5 countersunk screws. Incoming inspection should cover the housing and light window, mounting holes, contacts and wiring, together with confirmation that the installed lamp-light is the specified LFSM 27-450+250.
