Description

SB3-B1-YARII modulator board in the Yadro-1 radio station

SB3-B1-YARII is an electronic subunit used as the modulator board in the B1-YARII receiver-exciter of the Yadro-1 airborne HF radio station. The module operates in the transmit path and forms radio signals with the required modulation type before further frequency conversion and amplification. It is installed inside the parent receiver-exciter assembly and is not used as a standalone aircraft radio unit. The subunit belongs to the modular internal structure of the B1-YARII block.

Modulation function of SB3-B1-YARII

The main function of SB3-B1-YARII is to convert a low-frequency audio signal into a modulated intermediate-frequency signal used by the transmitter path. The input audio signal may come from the microphone circuit or from the aircraft intercom system through the radio station signal chain. The module forms modulation required for HF voice communication. Correct operation of the modulator is important for transmitted signal quality, speech intelligibility, modulation depth and compatibility with the operating mode selected on the Yadro-1 radio station.

SB3-B1-YARII in SSB and AM transmission modes

The SB3-B1-YARII subunit is associated with formation of single-sideband and amplitude-modulated transmission signals. In the Yadro-1 system context, it supports single-sideband modulation, including USB / SSB operation with J3E / A3J emission class references, and amplitude modulation with H3E / A3H emission class references. The exact mode availability depends on the radio station configuration and technical documentation. The module uses reference-frequency signals from the SB1-B1 reference oscillator for balanced modulator operation and stable signal formation.

SB3-B1-YARII in the B1-YARII transmit path

In the B1-YARII receiver-exciter, SB3-B1-YARII works together with other internal subblocks during transmission. The low-frequency input signal is received from SB4-B1, where preliminary audio-frequency stages and compression circuits are located. Reference signals are supplied by SB1-B1 for modulation processes. After the modulated intermediate-frequency signal is formed, it is sent to SB5-B1 for further transfer to the radio station operating frequency and preliminary power amplification. This position makes SB3-B1 one of the main modules in the transmit signal generation chain.

Aircraft application of SB3-B1-YARII

SB3-B1-YARII is used in the Yadro-1 airborne HF radio communication system installed on aircraft and helicopters with compatible shortwave communication equipment. Application may include Mi-8, Mi-17, An-26, Il-76 and other civil or military aircraft, depending on the installed radio station version and documentation. Since radio communication installations can differ by aircraft type, receiver-exciter version and modernization status, applicability should be confirmed through the aircraft equipment list, Yadro-1 documentation and the configuration of the B1-YARII parent assembly.

Identification and ordering of SB3-B1-YARII

The module may be referenced as SB3-B1-YARII, SB3B-B1-YARII, СБ3-Б1-ЯРII or СБ3Б-Б1-ЯРII. It may also be described as a modulator, modulator board, modulation board, electronic module, board or subunit. Before ordering, the parent assembly, decimal number, required condition and documentation set should be confirmed. The unit may be required for repair of the transmit path, restoration of the B1-YARII receiver-exciter, maintenance stock or replacement of a defective modulation module.
