Block 10A is an aircraft control panel used for remote control of the R-863 onboard command VHF/UHF radio station. It is also associated with R-862 / R-863 radio station configurations where applicable by aircraft documentation. Remote control of R-863 through Block 10A
The main function of Block 10A is remote frequency and mode control of the aircraft command radio station. The panel provides commands for tuning the radio station in the VHF and UHF operating ranges and supports selection of fixed communication channels. It is used by the crew during flight to manage radio communication with ground control points and other aircraft. The panel itself does not transmit or receive radio signals; it acts as a cockpit control unit for the connected radio station.
Preset channel memory in Block 10A
Block 10A is one of the control panel versions equipped with a memory unit for preset communication channels. The panel provides fast selection of up to 20 fixed channels, which are pre-programmed in the memory section. This allows the crew to switch quickly between assigned communication frequencies during flight. The control panel is structurally divided into a mode-control section and a lower memory cassette / preset channel section, depending on the exact version and installation.
Operating controls of Block 10A
The panel may include controls for noise suppressor activation, emergency receiver operation, modulation selection and transfer of control between working positions. The “PSh” control is used for the radio station noise suppressor. The “AP” control is associated with emergency receiver operation. The “AM–FM” control selects the modulation type where applicable. In two-panel installations, the control transfer function allows radio station control to be assigned to one crew position or another.
