Baklan-5 onboard VHF radio station

Baklan-5 is an onboard aircraft VHF radio station designed for simplex radiotelephone communication between aircraft crews, helicopters and ground air traffic control stations. The radio station operates in the civil aviation VHF band and is intended for voice communication during flight and ground operation. It was widely used on light civil aircraft and helicopters, including An-2, Yak-18T, Mi-2, Mi-8 and other aircraft equipped with compatible Baklan-family radio communication systems.

The Baklan-5 radio station provides voice communication in amplitude modulation mode within the aviation VHF communication range. It allows the crew to communicate with dispatch services and other aircraft using fixed frequency channels. The number “5” in the designation refers to the transmitter output power class. Communication range depends on flight altitude, antenna installation, aircraft configuration and radio conditions.

Baklan-5 system composition

The Baklan-5 radio station has a block-type construction. A typical set includes the transceiver, remote control panel and shock-mount frame. The transceiver performs reception, transmission, modulation and signal processing. The remote control panel is installed in the cockpit and provides frequency selection and control of the radio station. The shock-mount frame provides mechanical installation and vibration isolation of the radio unit inside the aircraft structure.

Crew operation of the Baklan-5 radio station is performed through the remote control panel installed in the cockpit. The panel allows the crew to select the required operating frequency and manage communication settings according to the installed radio configuration. The main transceiver is usually installed separately in the aircraft radio equipment area, while the cockpit panel remains accessible to the flight crew during operation.

Returns & Changes (Restocking Fee)
