8A-1516-000 tail drive shaft is a transmission component used on Mi-family helicopters to transfer torque from the main gearbox to the tail rotor through the intermediate and tail gearboxes. The shaft system includes straight and angled sections that enable power transmission along the tail boom and into the tail gearbox input.

The forward portion of the shaft links the main gearbox to the intermediate gearbox, while the rear portion connects the intermediate to the tail gearbox. The assembly is designed to operate under high rotational speed, torsional loading and vibration, maintaining continuous torque delivery during all phases of helicopter flight.

According to the factory passport, the shaft consists of a set of rigid and articulated elements supplied with fasteners, hardware, and lubrication materials. The component may be supplied with a mounting kit and accessory parts (Z.I.P.). It is interchangeable with shaft RSh1600-00 when modified in accordance with approved service instructions.

The shaft is installed on Mi-8, Mi-8MT/17, Mi-171/AMT, Mi-8MTV/172, and Mi-14 helicopters. Operating life and overhaul intervals are defined by manufacturer bulletins and vary depending on aircraft type and usage.

Alternate designations: 8A-1516-000, 8А-1516-000, 8A1516-000, RSh1600-00 — all refer to the same transmission tail shaft under applicable service bulletins.

Returns & Changes (Restocking Fee)
For selected items, a RESTOCKING FEE of 10% may apply in case of return, order cancellation, or changes to the order specifications. This condition applies only to certain products and is confirmed at the order approval stage.
