246-3904-000 Series 01 is a tail rotor assembly designed for Mi-8 family helicopters and intended to compensate main rotor torque and provide yaw control. The unit is installed on the helicopter tail boom and is a critical component of the tail rotor system.
The tail rotor is of a three-blade, variable-pitch design, ensuring effective directional control across all standard flight regimes. By varying blade pitch, the rotor generates the required lateral thrust to stabilize and control helicopter yaw.
The assembly 246-3904-000 includes the tail rotor hub 246-3901-000 Series 01 as the primary load-bearing unit, as well as three tail rotor blades 246-3925-000. The hub provides blade attachment and transmission of control forces, while the blades generate aerodynamic thrust.
The tail rotor assembly is used on Mi-8, Mi-171, Mi-172, Mi-17-1V, Mi-171A2 and other derivatives of the Mi-8 helicopter family. Service life and overhaul limits depend on production year and operating conditions and are recorded in the individual component logbook.
