Linear acceleration measurement by ADIS-2-2

The main function of the ADIS-2-2 is continuous measurement of linear acceleration along one specified axis. The sensor detects acceleration within its rated range and provides an output voltage corresponding to the measured value. This signal can then be used by onboard recording, monitoring or data-processing equipment. Since the instrument measures relatively low-frequency acceleration changes, it is suitable for aircraft motion, load-factor-related monitoring and flight data acquisition tasks, rather than for high-frequency vibration diagnostics.

Compensated design of the ADIS-2-2 sensor

The ADIS-2-2 is a compensated accelerometer with a magnetoelectric sensing element. The operating principle is based on contactless conversion of mechanical acceleration into an electrical signal using a pendulum-type torque sensor with a compensation circuit. This design helps improve measurement stability and reduces the influence of mechanical friction in the sensing element. For correct operation, the accelerometer must be installed according to the aircraft documentation, with attention to mounting orientation, connector condition, wiring integrity and calibration requirements.

ADIS-2-2 in aircraft flight data systems

The accelerometer is used in onboard systems that collect and process flight information. It may be installed on fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters depending on the aircraft configuration and equipment set. Typical applications include flight-data recording, onboard measurement systems, monitoring equipment and other data channels where linear acceleration is required. The ADIS-2-2 is associated with aircraft such as An-148, An-74TK-300D and Mi-171E depending on system configuration and approved installation documentation.

ADIS-2-2 and other ADIS-2 versions

The ADIS-2 series includes several accelerometers that differ mainly by measurement range. The ADIS-2-2 version is intended for the −16 to +16 m/s² range. Other versions of the same family have narrower or wider acceleration ranges, so the exact designation must be respected during replacement. A visually similar ADIS-2 unit should not be used as a substitute without checking the measurement range, output characteristics, aircraft documentation and technical conditions. For procurement, the full designation ADIS-2-2 / ADIS-2-2 should be stated.

Inspection and supply notes for ADIS-2-2

For aircraft use, the ADIS-2-2 should be supplied with passport or official technical documentation when available. Before installation, the unit should be checked for correct marking, housing condition, connector condition, calibration status and compatibility with the aircraft measurement system. Since this is a measurement sensor, external condition alone is not enough. Accuracy, output voltage behavior, power consumption and compliance with the required technical specification should be confirmed according to the applicable maintenance or bench-test procedure.
