The BP-037 is an electronic power supply board used inside airborne radio altimeter equipment. It is included in the radio component set of the A-037 radio altimeter and is used in A-037-1A, A-037-1V and A-037-1G receiver configurations, as well as in the PP-5M receiver. The BP-037 is not a standalone device. It operates only inside the complete radio altimeter equipment together with the measuring, receiving, transmitting and signal-processing modules.
The main function of the BP-037 board is power distribution and electrical supply inside the radio altimeter. It provides the required internal supply functions for the electronic circuits of the A-037 equipment. These circuits may include receiver sections, measuring boards, microwave modules, control circuits and auxiliary units, depending on the specific equipment configuration. The board does not measure altitude, does not process radar signals and does not provide cockpit indication.
The BP-037 board is used in receiver configurations A-037-1A, A-037-1V and A-037-1G, where specified by the radio altimeter documentation. These configurations may differ by system variant, indicator type, measurement range and aircraft installation, but the BP-037 remains an internal power board when included in the equipment set. For repair or replacement, compatibility should be confirmed by the receiver version, A-037 variant, circuit documentation and the exact board designation.
In addition to the A-037 radio altimeter, the BP-037 board is also associated with the PP-5M receiver. In this application, it works as part of the internal power-supply structure of the receiver equipment. Since A-037 and PP-5M equipment may use similar internal boards, the exact applicability should be checked by product passport and receiver documentation. This is especially important when the board is supplied separately from a complete receiver or radio altimeter set.
According to the product passport, separate “Basic Technical Data” for the BP-037 board are not specified. Its electrical parameters, operating modes and performance characteristics are defined at the level of the complete A-037 radio altimeter system. This is normal for an internal power-supply board. The BP-037 is not accepted as an independent electrical device; its condition and operation are checked as part of the full radio altimeter equipment.
The service life, storage life and warranty obligations of the BP-037 correspond to those of the A-037 radio altimeter, as confirmed by the product passport. Warranty operating time is specified as 2000 hours, and warranty storage period is specified as 2 years. These values should be considered together with storage, transportation and operating requirements of the complete radio altimeter system. For supply, condition and documentation are as important as the board marking.
Structurally, the BP-037 is manufactured as an electronic power supply board installed inside radio altimeter receiver assemblies. During inspection, the board should be checked for connector condition, soldering quality, damaged components, corrosion, contamination, overheating marks and storage-related defects. Since it is an avionics electronic board, handling should be done with proper antistatic precautions. For procurement, the full designation BP-037 should be used, with the required receiver configuration clearly stated.
