AGK-77-15 attitude indicator in flight instrument systems

The AGK-77-15 is a gyroscopic aircraft attitude indicator used in flight and navigation instrument systems of aircraft and helicopters. It provides the pilot with visual information about aircraft attitude relative to the true horizon, showing roll and pitch angles during different flight regimes. The instrument also includes sideslip indication and can generate electrical roll and pitch signals for external onboard systems. Roll, pitch and sideslip indication

The AGK-77-15 gives the crew a clear visual reference for aircraft position in space. Roll indication covers the full bank range, while pitch indication allows the pilot to monitor nose-up and nose-down attitude within the specified limits. Sideslip indication helps assess whether the aircraft or helicopter is flying in a coordinated condition. These functions are important during turns, climb, descent, maneuvering, instrument flight and operation in adverse weather, where outside visual reference may be limited or unavailable.

Electrical output signals from AGK-77-15

In addition to cockpit indication, the AGK-77-15 generates electrical signals proportional to roll and pitch. These signals may be transmitted to external onboard systems, depending on aircraft configuration. Connected systems can use them for monitoring, stabilization, recording or other attitude-related functions. Because of this, the instrument should not be checked only by visual movement of the display. The AGK-77-15 is designed to maintain specified accuracy under dynamic operating conditions. The instrument is rated for use on oscillating and vibrating bases, and its error limits are defined for vibration, motion and post-turn conditions. This matters in real aircraft operation, where the instrument is exposed to vibration, maneuvering loads and continuous attitude changes. During maintenance, the unit should be checked not only in a static position, but also with attention to behavior after turns, vibration exposure and warm-up.

Bank angle warning function

The AGK-77-15 includes bank angle warning activation at preset roll angle thresholds. This warning function helps alert the crew when bank angle reaches defined limits. It is an additional safety-related feature, especially during instrument flight, maneuvering or low-visibility operation. The warning system must correspond to the specified activation angles and should be checked as part of functional testing. Incorrect warning activation can mislead the crew or reduce the usefulness of the instrument during critical flight phases.
