The EV-0.7-1640 is a compact high-frequency axial electric fan used for forced cooling of radio-electronic equipment. It is installed near electronic blocks, control modules, avionics units, and other equipment that needs a steady airflow during operation. This is not a cabin comfort fan. Its job is to remove heat from equipment zones where natural ventilation is not enough. In aircraft and special-purpose systems, such fans are often small, but their role is practical: if cooling becomes weak, the electronic unit can overheat before the problem is visible from the outside.
The EV-0.7-1640 provides directed airflow through or around the cooled equipment. Compared with lower-capacity versions such as EV-0.5-1640, this model is intended for a higher nominal airflow. That makes it suitable for equipment layouts where more air movement is required while still keeping a compact fan size. The fan may be used for air intake or air discharge, depending on the duct or equipment arrangement. The final direction of installation is determined by the cooling scheme of the specific block or compartment.
The EV-0.7-1640 is designed for operation from a single-phase AC power network with aviation high frequency. This is an important point for replacement: the fan must match the aircraft or equipment power supply, not only the installation size. A similar fan with a different voltage, frequency, or phase count may fit mechanically but work incorrectly. The designation should therefore be checked together with the passport data, especially supply voltage, frequency, current, and capacitor value if the installation uses an external or specified capacitor.
The fan is intended for continuous operation and can be mounted in any spatial position. This is useful in aircraft equipment bays where the installation position is often limited by the layout of racks, wiring, ducts, and service access. Continuous-duty operation does not mean the fan can be installed and forgotten. If the rotor becomes contaminated, the bearings wear, or the electrical connection becomes unstable, airflow drops and the cooled equipment may start working outside its normal thermal range. Regular inspection should include both rotation and actual airflow condition.
The EV-0.7-1640 is specified for operation under vibration, shock, high humidity, and a wide temperature range. These conditions are typical for aviation and special-purpose equipment, where the fan may operate near electronic assemblies exposed to constant vibration and changing ambient conditions. Its small mass does not make it insensitive to mechanical problems. At high speed, even minor imbalance, rubbing, bearing wear, or damage to the impeller can lead to noise, vibration, and reduced cooling performance.
The fan may be supplied with different acceptance categories depending on production and customer requirement, including acceptance “5” according to the applicable OST reference. During service, attention should be paid to smooth start-up, stable rotation, sound level, absence of rubbing, mounting security, connector condition, and signs of overheating. For procurement, the full designation EV-0.7-1640 should be used. It is also worth confirming whether the requested item must meet a specific acceptance category, because this can matter for military or special aviation supply.
